We can be a nation that enforces the law and honors human dignity at the same time. America deserves safe communities and a humane immigration system that follows the law and respects human dignity. I believe that constitutional rights do not disappear because someone is an immigrant or because an agency operates in the shadows. Security and compassion are not opposites. I support:<ul><li>Passing comprehensive immigration reform that secures the border and makes it easier to come here legally</li><li>Holding federal immigration enforcement to the same professional and constitutional standards as all law enforcement agencies, including requiring body cameras and independent investigations</li><li>Fundamental changes to ICE to ensure accountability. That means rebuilding ICE from the ground up until it is an agency that respects the Constitution, rule of law, and America’s basic values. That must include rigorous training requirements focused on de-escalation, civil rights, and lawful conduct to create an agency that is accountable for its conduct</li><li>Defending a lawful asylum system that reflects our values by welcoming the neighbor and protecting people fleeing violence and persecution </li></ul>I believe in secure communities and fair enforcement. Too many leaders have stayed silent in the face of federal overreach and abuse. Alaska deserves a representative who will speak up, demand accountability, and stand for both public safety and the Bill of Rights.

My faith teaches me that every person has dignity, that conscience matters, and that power must be restrained. I believe the government should never dictate belief or privilege one faith tradition over others, that our constitutional rights are foundational, and they apply to everyone, regardless of politics or belief.&nbsp; I support:<ul><li>Religious liberty and freedom of conscience for people of all faiths and none, including separation of church and state</li><li>Full protection of First Amendment rights, including free speech, peaceful protest, and freedom from unreasonable searches</li><li>Respect for Second Amendment rights of lawful gun owners</li><li>Firm limits on government overreach and abuse of power</li><li>Keeping the government out of our personal decisions, which includes respecting all people regardless of their identity, faith, or expression&nbsp;</li></ul>True faith calls us to love our neighbors. Alaska’s economy and way of life depend on healthy fisheries, responsible energy development, and stewardship of the land and waters. We have over 3,000 rivers, more than 3 million lakes, and 34,000 miles of coastal shoreline, producing 60% of the United States’ seafood. We have both the largest oil field and the highest hydroelectric power potential in the country, yet have some of the highest energy costs in the nation. I believe Alaskans, not corporate interests, should lead these decisions.I support:<ul><li>A ban on destructive bottom trawling and stronger enforcement of mid-water trawling rules</li><li>Defending subsistence rights and ensuring rural communities are not pushed aside by industrial interests</li><li>Acknowledging climate change as real and human-caused, and responding with practical solutions that create good-paying jobs at home and protect our planet</li><li>Expanding Alaska-based energy production that benefits the majority of Alaskans by creating good-paying jobs and delivering affordable energy</li><li>Investing in hydropower, tidal, wind, and other renewable resources that make sense for Alaska’s geography </li></ul>Alaska should not have to import expensive energy when we have so many resources at home. With smart planning and local leadership, Alaska can lower costs, grow its workforce, and lead the nation in responsible energy production.

Groceries, utility bills, housing, and transportation all cost more here, yet Washington keeps rewarding the wealthiest interests while working people fall further behind. I believe affordability is about fairness, responsibility, and dignity across every stage of life. I support:<ul><li>Lowering taxes for working- and middle-class Alaskans while making billionaires and the wealthiest Americans to pay their fair share</li><li>Reforming the tax code to cut taxes for small business and make sure large corporations cannot dodge responsibility</li><li>Stronger antitrust enforcement to rein in monopolies that drive up prices and limit competition</li><li>Ending chaotic trade and tariff policies that raise prices for Alaska families and businesses</li><li>Defending Medicare and Social Security from cuts and incentivize employer-sponsored pensions and retirement plans so workers can retire with dignity</li><li>Protecting and expanding the Child Tax Credit to help families afford child care, food, and basic necessities</li><li>Expanding affordable housing by supporting community-based solutions, investing in housing for low-income families, seniors, and people experiencing homelessness, and reducing barriers that drive up construction and rental costs without improving safety or quality</li><li>Reversing cuts to SNAP that have gut food assistance for more than 40,000 Alaskan households and forced Alaskans to pay more for their groceries </li></ul>Alaskans should be able to afford a stable life if they work hard, raise a family, and plan for the future. That is not too much to ask.

I believe public service should be about trust, not self-enrichment. I support:<ul><li>Banning members of Congress from trading stocks while in office</li><li>Overturning Citizens United to get big money out of politics</li><li>A minimum five-year ban on former members of Congress becoming lobbyists</li><li>Making it easier to vote by protecting access to the ballot, defending voting rights and opposing efforts to suppress or manipulate turnout</li><li>Term limits of six two-year terms for members of the House of Representatives and two six-year terms for members of the Senate</li><li>Reforming the Supreme Court, including term limits for justices and a binding code of ethics requiring recusals when conflicts of interest exist</li><li>The full and unredacted release of the Epstein files, and criminal prosecution of those implicated regardless of their wealth and power.</li></ul>No one is above the law. Democracy cannot survive when power goes unchecked and accountability is optional. I am running for Congress to clean up a broken system and make government work for working people.

Health care is not a luxury. It is a basic responsibility of a just society, and Alaska deserves leaders who will defend it rather than vote to take it away. I believe every Alaskan should have access to health care coverage that keeps costs down and puts patients ahead of insurance company profits. Coverage should mean real access to care, not paperwork, limited doctors, or crushing out-of-pocket costs. I support:<ul><li>Guaranteed not-for-profit health care coverage so every Alaskan can get care regardless of employment or their ability to pay</li><li>Lower prescription drug costs, especially for seniors and rural residents</li><li>Protecting and strengthening the Affordable Care Act so Alaskans cannot be denied coverage or priced out of care</li><li>Reversing cuts to Medicare and Medicaid that are pushing nearly 40,000 Alaskans off their health care coverage</li><li>Strengthening rural and tribal health systems so care is available close to home</li><li>Protecting reproductive freedom, including access to abortion, IVF and personal medical decision-making </li></ul>Health care should be available to everyone, not only to those who can afford high premiums or live near major hospitals.

“Protesting is a fundamental constitutional right. Freedom from warrantless searches is a fundamental constitutional right. Lawful gun ownership is a fundamental constitutional right. When those rights are met with deadly force by federal agents, it demands moral clarity, not silence. In Minneapolis, two people were murdered during ICE interactions. My faith teaches me that repentance is not about words. It is about change. We have a moral obligation to change the circumstances that led to these killings, or more killings will occur. Action must now follow," said Schultz. “These tragedies make clear a sad reality: we should not be sending DHS officers into our streets who are poorly trained and unable to do their duty justly without escalation or over-reaction. The administration has recklessly recruited new agents using hate group language and graphics, predictably leading to bullying and harm, and doing nothing to keep our communities safe.” Schultz, a pastor who is running for Congress as Democrat in Alaska, is urging the administration to immediately withdraw ICE from Minnesota, to fully train all personnel, and to commit to no longer deploying them as a cudgel for settling petty partisan grudges. Schultz criticized the targeting of “blue” states and cities as overtly partisan and not effective. He also criticized his political opponents for standing silent in the face of the federal overreach.&nbsp; “I’m troubled by the silence and inaction of too many of our leaders here in Alaska. While communities grieve and our nation demands accountability, it seems Mr. Hill’s handlers are waiting for polling. A silence that Congressman Begich has made Alaskans all too familiar with. We need real change, not more of the same. It is time to speak up and show up for our fellow Americans, immigrants, and the Bill of Rights.”###
